Synopsis: The PN chapters at American University, George Washington University, and Georgetown University joined together for an intimate talk given by Suhayl Saadi. Mr. Saadi, a Scottish novelist, short story writer, dramatist, and poet discussed the power of his background as a Pakistani-Scottish writer and the role that memory, time, place, and voices play in “destabilizing" literature and bringing fiction nearer to the reality of daily life. He also did a reading of one of his short stories entitled "The Dancers" from his book The Burning Mirror. This talk was in conjunction with the UK Writer-in-Residence Program, an initiative by the British Council to bring some of the greatest emerging writers from the UK to the United States.
