9/11 UNITY WALK

Date: Sunday, September 14, 2008

Synopsis: PN American University chapter and PN National participated in and volunteered at the 9/11 Unity Walk. In DC, approximately 875 people from all different backgrounds came together to send a powerful message about tolerance, understanding, and co-existence and collectively embodied the diversity that compromises America’s pluralistic culture.

Jo Reed, a Buddhist from Virginia, exemplified this diversity. Explaining why she participated in the walk, Jo commented: “I am committed to working towards world peace. I believe that mutual respect and trust among people of different races and religions are critical to accomplish that goal. The Unity Walk, in particular, provides an opportunity for dialogue among diverse people at a time when many Americans may be tempted to go to a place of fear.”

PN National was a proud sponsor of the Walk.
